WCHS Beta Club Sponsor Tanya Smith
Beta Club is a part of a state and national organization. Its foremost purpose is public recognition of a student’s positive accomplishments and honest achievements. Membership in the Beta Club is based on honor and service for students in grades 9-12. A cumulative grade average of 90 is required and students must maintain semester averages of a 90 while earning 30 club points (15 of which are service points) per year to remain active in the club. Beta Club members participate in numerous service activities, such as Project Linus, Back to School Drive, Jeans for Teens, and other national projects. New members are inducted in January. The club meets the first Thursday of every month and offers two meeting options, 7:30 a.m. or 3:10 p.m. in the media center. The cost for joining this clubs is as follows: $35.00 for new members (10-12; $20 local; $15 nationally); $20 (for returning members; local dues); $20 initially for freshman and $15 balance in January if they meet the qualifications.
