Psychological Services

  • There are currently two School Psychologists that serve Wayne County School System.  The services that are provided include:

    • Consult with staff members regarding the learning and social/emotional needs of students.
    • Participation in the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) teams in each of the schools, and can provide suggestions to staff on different academic and behavioral interventions.
    • Consult with parents/guardians regarding concerns about their children, and providing suggestions and/or outside referrals for agencies in the community.
    • In some cases, we provide mental health support for students in each of the school buildings, such as individual or group counseling.
    • Perform psychological evaluations to determine if students are eligible for special education services.
    • Provide crisis support for students experiencing a crisis in or out of school.
    • Support Suicide Prevention in the Schools

I am a licensed School Psychologist with 26 years of experience in education.  I received my undergraduate degree in Middle School Education in 1994 from Georgia Southern University.  I have 13 years of teaching experience in Seventh and Eighth grade math and science. I earned my Masters of Education in School Psychology in 2004 and my Educational Specialist in School Psychology in 2007 from Georgia Southern University.  I have 13 years of experience as a School Psychologist. I utilize various assessments and techniques to assist in identifying appropriate interventions and supports for students.  I possess a strong talent for collaborative care; adept at partnering with education teams, parents, and other critical figures to develop action plans to address student psychological and educational needs.

I received an under-graduate degree in Psychology from Metropolitan State University in Denver, Colorado. I also received my Education Specialist Degree in School Psychology in 2005 from University of Northern Colorado. This is my 16th year as a School Psychologist. I have lived in Wayne County since 2018 and have worked in the Wayne County School System since 2017. I’m originally from Colorado and spent the majority of my career working with at-risk youth in high poverty areas in the Denver Metro area. I also train staff on the Mindset Safety Management System, which is a curriculum to help foster understanding and compassion about students who are experiencing behavioral difficulties, and how to prevent a situation from escalating.
