• The resources listed below cover a wide range of grade levels and topics that will keep students learning at home and in case of school closures.

  •  Readreadread! Reading books is a great way to increase vocabulary, stimulate creativity, and improve reading comprehension. Pair reading with a journal, where students summarize what they have read or reflect on what they have read. Even very young students can use a reading journal, but they may choose to draw pictures instead of write words.

    i-Ready – Site for students in grades K-8 in Wayne County. Students will need to use their Wayne County user name and password to log-in to work on their instructional learning path.

    Scholastic Learn at Home – This site is completely free and includes cross-curricular learning journeys. Each day includes four learning experiences, each built around a meaningful story or video – for grades preK-12.

    Khan Academy provides learning activities for students from pre-K-high school in a variety of subject areas. Khan Academy has also published sample daily schedules for students 4-18 to keep them learning.

    Georgia Public Broadcasting - Georgia Home Classroom - provides learning activities for students from pre-K- high school in a variety of subject areas. New lessons are being added daily.

    Audible - Audible is offering free listening for students. Simply click on the link, no log-in or password required. Simply click, stream, and listen. This is a great way to offer a screen-free option for students to hear a story read aloud. The Audible library has books that are appropriate for listeners young and old.

    Speech Therapy Resource - This is a resource that provides home therapy practice for students who are served by our speech therapy program.

    Leader in Me - We are growing leaders in Wayne County with our Leader in Me program. This resource provides "bite-sized" lessons, 7 Habits Cartoons, and lots of other activities to help families focus on the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

    SORA - The SORA app allows students to check out books to a Kindle OR read online books in any web browser. Choose Wayne County as your school. Happy reading! #wayneREADS

    Georgia Aquarium Webcam - The Georgia Aquarium has set up webcams at all of their exhibits --- check it out as a virtual field trip!

    Georgia Aquarium At Home Learning - The Georgia Aquarium is doing a daily live stream of an event, like feeding the animals, a staff talk, or animal highlight.

    Newsela - Newsela provides engaging, standards-aligned content through leveled articles on many, many topics. Students and staff in Wayne County can sign in through their Clever account.

    The Smithsonian Learning Lab includes pre-packaged collections containing lessons, activities, and recommended resources made by Smithsonian museum educators and thousands of classroom teachers across the country.

    First Alert Weather Academy - WTOC - On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the WTOC meteorologists will teach a science lesson related to the weather. They will be posted online and will also appear on air during the 4:30 p.m. newscast.

    Georgia Power's Learning Power Game App - Georgia Power's Learning Power Game App reinforces STEM-based energy and efficiency lessons with fun, interactive, educational activities. Thre are leveled activities for students in grades PreK - High School.
