CW3 (Retired) Chief Ted S. Marcus

CW3 (Retired) Ted S. Marcus is a native of Jesup Georgia. He is one of the nine children of Joel Joseph (J.J.) and Mollie Queen Marcus. Chief Marcus attended Wayne County High school in Jesup, GA and he advanced his education at Tennessee Military Institute Academy in Sweetwater, TN, and received a scholarship to attend Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, Tennessee to play football. He graduated from college with a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Recreation.

 

Chief Marcus enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1987. He served 23 years on active duty with multiple combat tours in Iraq. In addition, during his time on active duty Chief Marcus was able to secure a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Chief Marcus is the Senior Army Instructor for the JROTC program at Wayne County High School. His strong belief is that God’s greatest plan for him is to be able to give back to his community.

First Sergeant (1SG) Short

First Sergeant (1SG) (Retired) Short was born in Detroit, Michigan. He has spent 29 years in the United States Army as an Electronic Missile Systems Repairman and Electronic Maintenance Supervisor. During his time in the Army, he held every enlisted leadership position from Team Leader to First Sergeant. 1SG Short has three combat tours and four overseas tours.

1SG Short retired from the military in 2018 and immediately became the JROTC Army Instructor for Wayne County High School. 1SG Short has an MA in Entrepreneurship, a BS in Liberal Arts with a concentration in management and administration, and US Army Cadet Command Instructor Certification.

1SG Short has a passion for teaching leadership and motivating young people to become better citizens. He believes the fruits of his labor will have a positive impact on his country. In his spare time, he likes to collect vinyl records and read about modern music history.
