Mrs. Melony Jones
Melony Jones is a 1987 graduate of Wayne County High School. After graduating from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Science in Social Science Education, Mrs. Jones returned to WCHS as a social studies teacher in 1990. During her tenure in the Social Studies Department she served as the faculty advisor for the WCHS Student Council and the Mock Trial team. She also served as a teacher for the ACCEL program, teaching Political Science and U.S. History for Waycross College. Mrs. Jones also served as the Social Studies Department Head.
In 1995 Mrs. Jones earned a Masters in Social Science Education from Georgia Southern University. She continued her education, earning an Education Specialist Degree in Curriculum in 2005 from Nova Southeastern University. She also obtained gifted certification. After earning this certification, she taught Civics, Economics, World History, and U.S. History at all levels, including the gifted level. She also taught A.P. World History. In 1998 she was honored as the Retired Educators’ Teacher of the Year. In 2010 she was named the Wayne County High School Teacher of the Year and then the Wayne County Teacher of the Year. In 2014 Mrs. Jones accepted the position of WCHS Instructional Coach, where she is currently serving.
Mrs. Jones is married to Greg Jones who is also a graduate of WCHS. He is the CFO at Wayne Memorial Hospital. They have one son, Aidan, who is in sixth grade at Arthur Williams Middle School. They are members of First Baptist Church. Mrs. Jones and her family enjoy traveling when not in school. Their favorite thing to do is to go camping. Mrs. Jones also enjoys reading in her free time.
