The Wayne County School Nutrition Program is committed to serving nutritious, well balanced meals to students daily.  The school nutrition program participates in the National School Lunch Program, National School Breakfast Program and Seamless Summer Program.  All programs are regulated and funded by the the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) with the School and Community Nutrition Unit of the Georgia Department of Education overseeing the program administration.  We strive to help build healthy children ready to learn.

The School Nutrition Department is headed by Dr. Rindy Trapnell.  Dr. Trapnell has 23 years of experience with the School Nutrition Program.  Under her leadership are two central office staff members.  Yvette Denison is School Nutrition Bookkeeper and has been part of the Wayne County School System for 4 years.  Samantha Thornton is School Nutrition coordinator and has been part of the Wayne County School Nutrition program  for 17 years.

There are 8 operating school cafeterias.  Each site is supervised by the cafeteria manager.  All cafeteria managers, are ServSafe Certified.  Currently the program employs approximately 65 workers.  We offer breakfast and lunch at all sites.  USDA Child Nutrition guidelines and standards are followed in preparation and service of meals.

The Wayne County School Nutrition Program will be a part of the education process of the school by providing students with nutritious meals and nutrition education experiences that promote healthy children who are ready to learn.
