Mrs. JoAnne Roach

JoAnne Roach (Burns) is a 1995 graduate of Wayne County High School. After graduating from Valdosta State University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, she spent five years serving the public in the area of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities. In 2001 Mrs. Roach earned a Master of Science in Counseling and Psychology from Troy State University. She then obtain her license as a Professional Counselor, while serving our community as the Director of Wayne Counseling Center.

In 2004 Mrs. Roach joined the Wayne County High School staff as a School Counselor. Her transition into the field of School Counseling was fueled by her passion for working with teenagers. Mrs. Roach completed her Educational Specialist degree in School Counseling from Argosy University in 2008. Her career as a school counselor has truly been rewarding and she feels blessed to serve in the same community where she grew up. Mrs. Roach enjoys working with students, teachers, the administrative team and parents who each play a critical role in the student’s social/emotional and academic success. She is a strong believer in expecting and encouraging each student to have a growth mindset; anything is possible with effort and determination.

In 2019, Mrs. Roach accepted the position as the Wayne County High School Crisis Counselor. She also serves as the Lead Counselor for Wayne County High School’s Counseling Department. Mrs. Roach enjoys working with a wonderful team of caring professionals whose mission is to deliver a comprehensive school counseling program that integrates counseling, consultation, and collaboration to promote equity, access, and academic success for all students.

Mrs. Roach is married to Michael Roach who is a native of Mobile, AL. They have three children, Camryn Brooks (sophomore at Georgia Southern University), Cadyn Brooks (Junior at WCHS) and Easton Roach (Pre-K at School of Discovery). They are members of Anderson Drive Baptist Church, where Michael serves as the Youth Pastor. Mrs. Roach’s favorite past-time is cooking, baking and spending quality time with her family.
