COVID-19 Preventive Measures

Due to the rapid increase in both positive cases and quarantines associated with COVID-19, the Wayne County School System is implementing a multi-tiered approach to school operations that will aid in protecting students and staff members.  Each column on the accompanying chart details how the school will be conducted should positive cases reach a given level.  Please know that, depending on the situation, these procedures may be initiated at one or more schools or system-wide.  Current quarantining procedures will remain in place during the phases of Normal Operations, Targeted Measures, and Hybrid Learning to further mitigate the spread of the virus.

Should there be a need to escalate from one level to another, and this will be communicated to parents/guardians who are impacted via the Kinvo text messaging system, the system website, and the app.  To download the app, search for Wayne County GA Schools in your device’s app store.  The school system will make every effort possible to give parents/guardians ample time to make arrangements for the supervision of students at home should the need arise to go to Hybrid Learning or Distance Learning.  The situation will be monitored daily to determine when operations can begin moving back toward targeted or normal operations, and when the determination to deescalate is made, it will be communicated in the same fashion.  All of these measures will be used in conjunction with continued guidance from local and regional health officials.

As of publication of this announcement, all schools, with the exception of Arthur Williams Middle School and Martha Puckett Middle School are at the Normal Operations level.  AWMS and MPMS are currently at the Targeted Measures level.
