This is a reminder to all parents and students: All Wayne County schools will be open and will run normal schedules tomorrow, Friday, September 1. We are thankful that our community was spared the brunt of the storm damage and we are excited to see all students back at school bright and early tomorrow morning.

Wayne County Schools will remain closed on Thursday, August 31 to allow school system and county officials to assess damage to school facilities and roads. Administrators, custodial staff, and maintenance staff will report to work at their usual time if road conditions permit. All staff and students will return to school on Friday, September 1.

Due to the storm in the Gulf of Mexico that is expected to impact our area, we are canceling school and all school-related activities for Wednesday, August 30. All after-school activities scheduled for Tuesday will still take place. We will continue to monitor the situation and as soon as we can determine factors such as road conditions and power outages following the storm, we will make a decision on whether we will return to normal school operations on Thursday. We will communicate all updates to you via ClassTag and local media. Please take proper precautions to keep you and your family safe.

Attention Pre-K Parents:
Open House for ONLY Pre-K parents and students will be from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 3. Parents should go to the school where their child is registered to attend Pre-K to meet their teacher and see the classroom. Open House for all other students and their parents begins at 3:30 on August 3.

Offices at the central office and all schools will be closed on Monday, July 31, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM for a county-wide meeting of all faculty and staff members.

The Wayne County School System is proud to promote the kids' family fun day, Touch-a-Truck, on Saturday, August 5, from 9:00-2:00.

The Back-to-School Open House at all school sites will be Thursday, August 3, from 3:30-6:00 PM. Please join us to meet your teacher and see your classroom.

To: Parents of Pre-K Students in SY23-24
The State of Georgia has made some changes to Pre-K class sizes for the upcoming school year. The maximum number of students for each homeroom class will be 20 students. Please understand that this is a state decision, not a local one. This may potentially impact the number of classes we are able to offer at each school as well as the number of students who are placed on waiting lists. We will do our very best to ensure that all children applying for Pre-K have the opportunity to participate. Pre-K registration remains open through April 30. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Karla Ogden at KOgden2@wayne.k12.ga.us or at 912-427-1000, ext. 380.

Thank You, Wayne County, for passing the 2024 Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax. Pennies create possibilities.
