WCSD Partnering with Weatherstem Smart Weather Technology

The Wayne County School District is proud to announce its partnership with Weatherstem Smart Weather Technology to enhance the safety of both students and staff members. The WCSD will soon be installing Weatherstem stations and lightning and tornado sirens across its campuses. This initiative aims to provide timely and accurate weather alerts to students, staff, and visitors, ensuring a higher level of preparedness during severe weather conditions. The new Weatherstem stations will monitor weather conditions in real-time, providing crucial data that can help in making informed decisions during weather emergencies. Additionally, the newly installed lightning and tornado sirens will serve as a direct warning system, capable of alerting the entire school community to take immediate protective action when a severe weather threat is detected. Installation of these systems has been meticulously planned to cause minimal disruption to the school day. Testing of the sirens and weather stations is scheduled to occur after 3:30 PM to avoid any undue alarm during class hours. This testing is critical to ensure that all equipment functions properly and that the sirens are audible throughout the school campus. The commitment to safety demonstrated by the Wayne County School District through these installations highlights the proactive steps being taken to safeguard our community against unpredictable weather, ensuring that education can proceed without the looming threat of weather disruptions. The scheduled installations will be as follows. Tests will be completed on the stations to ensure that everything is working properly so if you hear the sirens on one of these days, please do not be alarmed.
