As part of our continued commitment to student and staff safety, Wayne County High School will begin using a new weapon detection system starting tomorrow.

To support this process, all students will enter the building through the front doors each morning. Students will be asked to form three entry lines as they arrive so that we can move everyone through as efficiently as possible. Students may also be asked to remove items such as 3-ring binders or metal cups from their backpacks while passing through the system, as these items can sometimes trigger the detector.

It may also be helpful for students to place smaller personal items—such as eyeglass cases, phone chargers, or electronic cords—in a clear zip-top bag so they can easily remove these items from their backpacks during screening. Preparing these items in advance may help speed up the entry process.

We anticipate that entry into the building may take a little longer than usual during the first few days as students and staff adjust to this new procedure. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this transition and refine our process.

Our goal is to maintain a safe, welcoming, and efficient start to each school day while minimizing disruptions to instruction. Thank you for your continued support as we implement this important safety measure.
