Out of an abundance of caution in regard to the impending approach of Hurricane Ian, the Wayne County School System will close all schools for students and staff members on Thursday, September 29 and Friday, September 30. Although the current prediction is for the storm to diminish in intensity as it comes closer to the Wayne County area, there will likely be areas with power outages, localized flooding, and dirt roads that may be impassable. For these reasons, we feel that it is in the best interest of students and staff members to stay home on these days. In conjunction with Wayne Emergency Management, we ask for your assistance in securing all loose items outside your home that might be swept away by wind or water and be a potential hazard that can cause greater damage. Our hope is that all will be safe over the next few days, and we look forward to reopening schools on Monday, October 3. Should there be a need to alter that plan, we will do our very best to remain in communication with families via text messages, emails, and local and regional media over the weekend.
Parent Notification - August 19, 2022, 1:00 P.M. At approximately 12:45 today, a staff member at MPMS inadvertently triggered the Centegix security alert system. Please know that all students and staff are safe and that the school is now operating normally. There was never any danger to anyone at the school. Law enforcement and school district personnel responded within seconds of the alert so it is comforting to know that the alert system works as it is intended to do.

Wayne County School System Media Release May 26, 2022 The Wayne County School System has been made aware of a student-generated social media video post containing a racial slur and disturbing actions. Law enforcement was immediately contacted and collaborated with school district officials as the incident was being investigated. In keeping with our core beliefs that all people are worthy of respect and that the safety and welfare of students, staff, and the community are paramount, the two individuals responsible for the post will not attend any end-of-year school-sponsored activities. We, as a school system, do not condone the type of behavior that was displayed in the video post.
