At this time, we are still planning to have school on Tuesday, April 28. The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority, and we will continue to assess conditions and share any updates as needed.
As a reminder, if you feel that you cannot safely travel to school, please send a note with your child when they return.
We encourage all families to stay informed and take time to review their emergency plans and ensure they are prepared should conditions change.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we continue to monitor this situation.

Destruction of Special Education Records
By the Wayne County Board of Education
In compliance with the Individual Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the Georgia Records Act, and the Wayne County School System Policy on destruction of data collected, maintained, or used in the provision of a free and appropriate public education for handicapped and/or exceptional children in the Wayne County Schools, the records will be destroyed during the month of June 2026.
Records on the students who were enrolled in a special education program in the Wayne County School System who were born between January 1, 1999, and December 31, 2000, and were twenty-five (25) years of age as of January 1, 2026, are no longer needed by the schools for educational purposes.
These records may be needed by the student or parent for Social Security or other reasons. If you, as a former student or parent of a former special education student, wish to obtain these records prior to destruction, you should contact the Special Education Department, Wayne County Board of Education, 710 W. Pine Street, Jesup, Georgia. Positive identification will be required before the records can be released to the individual.
For more information, contact the Special Education Department at 912-427-1000, Ext. 817, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
