Open House Reminders - Open House for students and their families at the following times on Friday, July 31
• Pre-K Open House is from 10:00-11:00 AM at the elementary schools.
• WCHS Freshman Orientation is from 11:00 AM-2:00 PM at the high school.
• K-12 Open House is from 2:00-5:00 PM at all schools.
• Pre-K Open House is from 10:00-11:00 AM at the elementary schools.

On Tuesday, May 12, the Wayne County School System proudly honored 22 retirees. We thank these wonderful people for their many years of service and dedication to the children of Wayne County: Serran Aaron, Amy Adams, Tammy Bibens, Kristi Brewer, Amy Broadhurst, Mary Elizabeth Channell, Wendy Creager, Mary Flowers, Jane Floyd, Mary Frye, Raeghan Given, Annette Groover, Christy Hursey, Lynn Keith, Chrisine Paul, Jackey Peebles, Melissa Perkins, Melanie Sapp, Teresa Scarborough, Linda Smith, Sue Smith, and Shirley Thomas.
Please note this important information for those who will be attending the South Effingham-Wayne County spring football scrimmage this Wednesday, at 6:00 pm, at Jaycee Stadium - Game Day Procedures-https://aptg.co/krGP7G); Security & Clear Bag Policy - https://aptg.co/7bg-4x.

At this time, we are still planning to have school on Tuesday, April 28. The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority, and we will continue to assess conditions and share any updates as needed.
As a reminder, if you feel that you cannot safely travel to school, please send a note with your child when they return.
We encourage all families to stay informed and take time to review their emergency plans and ensure they are prepared should conditions change.

*If your child is already enrolled in Pre-K in Wayne County, you will not need to complete the registration process.
We are aware of rumors circulating this morning regarding Wayne County High School. We want to assure our community that there has been no safety threat to the school. The increased law enforcement presence around campus this morning was due to a road hazard in the surrounding area. Officers were on site to assist with traffic and ensure the safety of students and staff during arrival. All students and staff members are safe. We appreciate the continued support of our community. Thank you!
Due to a hazard in the roadway on Hwy 341 from Sunset Blvd to Joey Williamson Road, on Joey Williamson Road between Hwy 341 and the high school, and the clean-up associated with that, traffic will be diverted in that area this morning. If you are going to WCHS or MPMS from Hwy 341, you will need to turn by Coastal Pines and take Durrence Road. If you are traveling to WCHS or MPMS from Hwy 84, you will need to turn off Joey Williamson Road onto Durrence Road by the track. You will not be able to get to the front drop-off area at WCHS directly off Joey Williamson Road. We apologize for the inconvenience this creates, and we thank you for your patience as the clean-up crews work to get the roadways back in safe condition as quickly as possible.

The Pre-Kindergarten registration begins February 9, 2026, and the deadline is March 6, 2026.
Applications received for children after this date will be placed on a waiting list.
