Wayne County Schools Shine!
We’re proud to celebrate James E. Bacon Elementary, Martha Rawls Smith Elementary, and Odum Elementary for being named to the Proficient List by the Georgia Department of Education through the John Hancock Award!
This recognition highlights our schools’ excellence in teaching cursive writing – a skill that strengthens student confidence, supports cognitive growth, and connects learners to history.
Schools on the Proficient List have shown that 90% of their students can confidently write their names in cursive, preparing them for academic success and lifelong learning.
Congratulations to our students, teachers, and staff for this outstanding accomplishment! Your hard work is keeping the art of cursive alive in Wayne County and building future-ready learners.
