The SAT exam that was scheduled at WCHS on Saturday, Oct 5th has been cancelled. All students who were registered to take the Oct 5 exam at WCHS will be rescheduled for the Nov 19th make-up SAT. Students should log into College Board account and click My SAT for more information.

Wayne County School System Update: Athletes may return to practice on Thursday and Friday on a voluntary basis. Coaches will contact players regarding locations and times of practice. The WCHS football game previously scheduled for October 4th has been rescheduled for October 7th, in Perry, at 6 p.m. All other athletic competitions will be scheduled next week by the individual coaches. A date for students to return to school has not yet been determined. At the current time, power has been restored to all school sites with the exception of OES. We will keep you updated as more information is made available.

All Wayne County High School athletics and extracurricular activities have been suspended at this time. We look forward to getting back to some normalcy for all staff and students as well as our community before we resume any activities. We will keep everyone posted on next steps as we continue to work through this situation. We ask that everyone have patience as we make decisions to return to school. Please continue to be safe and know that staff and students are always our top priority.

More than 2,200 meal packages were distributed to Wayne County School System families today at JEB, MRSE, OES, and SES. We are glad to have been able to help in this time of need.

Since the WCHS Homecoming activities were scheduled for later this week, we have had to reschedule them for Friday, October 18. The parade will be on Thursday, the 17th. Please help spread the word. Thank you!

The Wayne County School System’s nutrition department is conducting a feeding program for children ages 0-18. Meal packages will be available for pick-up on Tuesday, October 1, from 11:00 AM to noon, at OES, SES, JEB, and MRSE. Pick-up will be conducted as a drive-thru at the front of each of these schools. Infinite Campus Parent Portal updated a new feature that allows you to reset your own passwords in the Parent Portal app in the future. Guardians should have received a message (email and/or text message) inviting them to join EduRooms and create an account. Guardians can also receive instructions as well as each student's magic code during Wayne County's Open House. Our earlier communication stated that all schools will be closed on Monday due to impending weather, As a result, Pre-K Open House is postponed to Wednesday at 9:00 AM. Please bring your child's immunization records to the school on Wednesday.

Wayne County School District Schedule Update Due to Tropical Storm Debby Due to the anticipated heavy rains from Tropical Storm Debby, the Wayne County School District is adjusting the pre-planning schedule, and the start of the school year as follows: • Monday, August 5: All schools and offices will be closed. No system employees are required to report to work. • Tuesday, August 6: Weather permitting, and if travel is safe, district and school administrators are to report to work. Further guidance will be provided by the superintendent. • Wednesday, August 7: Open House for all schools will be held from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM. • Thursday, August 8: The first day of school for students. Please note that this schedule may change based on local road conditions, power outages, and potential damage to school property. Any necessary updates will be communicated through our usual channels. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

4:15 PM Parents/Guardians, With the expiration of the Tornado Warning, buses are resuming their afternoon routes. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

3:43 PM Parents/Guardians, Given that the National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning for our area, we wanted to make you aware that students who are still at school will be hunkering down until the threat subsides. Buses have either stopped or will soon be doing so to shelter students. As a result, buses may be late getting students home. When we receive word that it is safe to begin transporting students, we will do so.
